Hi,

I just installed Emacs 19.34.4 on my Win95 machine at work. Everything
worked fine except any shell related commands (shell, shell-command,
compile, etc), which just gave up with no output. I finally tracked the
problem to the resident anti-virus software they install on our machines -
Dr Solomon's WinGuard. If "Scan all files" is on, shells don't work.
Turning "Scan all files" off solved the problem (it still scans
executables, FWIW).

I don't know if it's a bug in WinGuard or Emacs, but I thought you might
be interested.

Chris.

Hi,

Just to inform you that after installing Dr Solomon's Anti Virus program
on my Win95 machine (latest driver of Jan.) my Emacs was not able to
do proper compiling of my latex files.
Doing LaTeX outside emacs in a separate DOS box was not a problem, hence
it has something to do with emacs (or auctex).
After uninstalling this anti-virus tool, everything worked fine again.

To be complete, I used the configuration:
   emacs-19.34.6
   AucTeX-9.7p
   MiKTeX1.10beta1

Regards, Willem.Minten@esat.kuleuven.ac.be
